Taguchi Tomoki is a Japanese artist renowned for his work Yatsuo no tsubaki (1860-1869). It is a book featuring woodblock prints, a popular art form that flourished during the Edo period. In woodblock printing, water-based inks are used to achieve multiple colours in the images. Part of the process uses wood, thus the name. For some time, images produced were mostly monochromatic. However, its popularity evolved into making prints that uses diverse colours.
